The Victorian Bar has released a statement on the proposed Voice to Parliament following a recent poll among its members.

Out of the 1,767 members who cast their votes, 57.0 percent backed the motion endorsing constitutional recognition and the proposed amendment, while 40.4 percent supported the motion to remain neutral on the matter. Additionally, a small percentage (2.5 percent) chose to abstain from voting on both motions.

The Victorian Bar stated in its official statement,

"The Victorian Bar supports constitutional recognition of Australia’s First People. The Victorian Bar considers that the amendment proposed by the Bill for an Act to alter the Constitution is sound, appropriate, and compatible with Australia’s system of representative and responsible government which would be enhanced by the addition of the Voice."
