Bench books/
Victorian Sentencing Manual updated.

After nearly four years of intensive updating and rewriting, the Fourth Edition of the Victorian Sentencing Manual is nearing completion.

The latest update is a newly rewritten chapter on property offences. The chapter consolidates material across the broad range of property offending, and significantly expands commentary on certain aggravated violent property offences, including the relatively new offences of carjacking and home invasion. It also clarifies the difference in sentencing for Victorian and Commonwealth money laundering offences.

In addition to this, new Sentencing Manual Case Summaries database now contains all published County Court sentencing decisions through December 2020 inclusive, and Court of Appeal sentencing cases through May 2022 inclusive.

Lastly, both have been refreshed with the College’s recently adopted branding. The first of our bench books to which this has been applied.
