Victorian barrister Raelene Sharp KC has been appointed the new Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP).
Ms Sharp’s five year appointment will commence on 4 December 2023. She will fill the vacancy created by the appointment of the former CDPP, the Hon Justice Sarah McNaughton, as a judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Ms Sharp has been a Barrister at the Victorian Bar since 2010 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2022. Ms Sharp has a strong criminal law practice, appearing for the CDPP in many complex and sensitive cases.
