The Judicial College’s Annual Report for 2022/2023 has been tabled in Parliament.

As Heraclitus claimed: ‘the only constant in life is change’. This sentiment is apt as we reflect on the past year at the College.

Courts have courageously embraced programs of education that support cultural and organisational change. The College's 'Courts as workplaces' program has evolved and become central to discussions about respectful and inclusive workplaces. As well as this important work, the College has offered education that implicitly addresses judicial conduct in sessions on ethics, courtcraft, wellbeing and burnout.

The College has continued its commitment to advancing cultural awareness and First Nations' self-determination. The First Nations Twilight Series has provided a forum for powerful stories and important conversations about First Nations peoples’ experiences in the justice system.

We've achieved milestones to improve our learning environment with a move to contemporary premises, the unveiling of a new website, an enhanced collection of online resources and our innovative judicial precedent builders.

This year’s Annual Report celebrates the collegiality that the College engenders. Our ‘Tsundoku’ project invites judicial officers to share reviews of their recently read or favourite books with fellow judicial readers in the monthly bulletin. To these contributors and the many other Victorian judicial officers who engage with and give generously to the work of the College, we express our gratitude.
