New edition of federal sentencing guide released.

The 'Sentencing of Federal Offenders in Australia - A Guide for Practitioners' has been updated to its seventh edition, reflecting legal developments as of 14 June 2024.

Updated by Des Lane of the Victorian Bar and supported by Grace Devereaux of the Queensland Bar and experts from the CDPP, this edition includes several new and substantially revised sections. These updates cover topics such as the application of state and territory sentences and orders under section 20AB of the Crimes Act 1914 (section 4.7 of the guide, with related updates to Appendix 4), and mandatory sentencing requirements for certain Commonwealth child sex and child sexual abuse offences (section 4.85).
