The new Bendigo Law Courts commenced operation on Monday 27 February, after being officially opened by Attorney General Jaclyn Symes in the presence of Chief Justice Anne Ferguson.

The new building, designed in consultation with users, includes nine courtrooms, two hearing rooms, and remote witness facilities. The facility will serve the Magistrates’ Court, Children’s Court, and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, as well as the Supreme Court, County Court, and Federal Circuit Court on a circuit basis.

The contemporary design boasts clear views of Bendigo’s skyline, calming materials and tones, and digital technology integrated throughout the building. The new Bendigo Law Courts also represent an important collaboration with the Dja Dja Wurrung, Bendigo’s Traditional Owners, with Djaara culture and knowledge embedded throughout the building. The Specialist Family Violence Court and Koori Court are among the specialist responses in the new facility, with a design that enables separation between parties attending court.

The new Bendigo Law Courts will provide state-of-the-art facilities for Bendigo, serving the Loddon-Mallee community for years to come.
